Ocean Software's Addams Family Values Game Revisited
Original: The Making Of: Addams Family Values, Ocean Software's Attempt to Mix Hollywood & the Legend of Zelda
A retrospective looks back at Ocean Software's 1990s video game adaptation of Addams Family Values, which blended a Hollywood film licence with gameplay inspired by The Legend of Zelda. The piece explores how the British developer tried to turn a movie tie-in into a genuine adventure game, a rarity in an era when licensed titles were usually quick cash-ins, and revisits how the project came together and how it was received.
Why now: Retro gaming retrospectives about ambitious licensed games from the 16-bit era regularly attract nostalgia-driven attention.
