Original: French TV Channels Scramble to Apologize After Airing Albanian Protests as Paris and Lyon
French television channels have issued apologies after broadcasting footage of protests in Albania, mistakenly presenting it as scenes from Paris and Lyon. The error, picked up by multiple US outlets including U.S. News & World Report, has drawn attention to sloppy verification practices in TV newsrooms, with critics questioning how images from a foreign country could air as French cities without basic checks.
Why now: The mix-up is an embarrassing editorial error by major broadcasters, prompting public apologies and mockery online.
