Russia to host world weightlifting championships
Original: sport
Sports headlines this week are dominated by two stories: Russia being awarded a world weightlifting championship, a decision that prompted shocked reactions given the country's ongoing exclusion debates in international sport, and a shake-up in the US college football AP Top 25, where BYU dropped to No. 8 after a loss to UCF, falling below Notre Dame, while Ohio State and Georgia moved up and Utah and UCLA climbed.
Why now: Controversy over Russia hosting a world championship in weightlifting is drawing strong reactions alongside major college football ranking changes.
