Original: Arizona IAM Members Ratify Unprecedented Raytheon Contract with 24% Average Wage Growth

Machinists union members in Arizona have ratified what their union is calling an unprecedented contract with defense contractor Raytheon, delivering an average 24% wage increase over the life of the agreement. The International Association of Machinists announced the vote, describing the deal as a landmark for its aerospace and defense workers. The ratification follows a period of tight labor negotiations across the US aerospace sector, where unions have been pushing hard for stronger pay gains.

Why now: The size of the wage increase stands out amid a wave of aggressive union contract fights in the US aerospace and defense industry.
