SoftBank parts with rookie pitcher after Tommy John surgery

Original: 木村大成

SoftBank Hawks have removed first-year right-handed pitcher Kimura Taisei from their roster, with the club stressing the decision was not based on a lost competitive battle. The 21-year-old underwent Tommy John elbow surgery in November last year, and the team is reportedly sounding him out about a developmental player contract. Kimura spoke of a year that began with surgery and rehabilitation.

Why now: Fans are reacting to the unusually harsh move of cutting a promising rookie immediately after major elbow surgery.
