EU weighs Trump-style approach to securing critical minerals
Original: EU weighs mirroring Donald Trump in securing critical minerals
The European Union is considering adopting a more aggressive, Trump-inspired strategy to secure supplies of critical minerals, according to the Financial Times. The discussion reflects growing concern in Brussels that Europe's access to raw materials needed for green technology and defence is vulnerable, and that softer diplomatic tools have not delivered the security the bloc needs.
Why now: Critical mineral supply security has become urgent amid US-China competition and Trump's assertive resource deals.
