Project rebuilds Switzerland block by block at 1:1 scale
Original: Switzerland. Block by block. At 1:1 scale
A project called Blocks is recreating the whole of Switzerland as a 3D model, block by block, at 1:1 scale, using Swiss geodata to generate the terrain. The site renders the country's landscape in volumetric blocks, letting visitors explore a full-scale digital twin of the Alps, lakes and cities. Readers are debating the technical challenge of handling such massive terrain datasets in a browser.
Why now: The novelty and technical ambition of a full 1:1-scale digital recreation of an entire country is drawing attention online.
