Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has conceded election defeat in a snap vote, marking a historic breakthrough for Serbia's student-led opposition movement. The movement, which rose to prominence through months of anti-government protests, now appears set to take power. Observers are calling it one of the most significant political shifts in Serbia in decades, with commentators highlighting the unusual role students played in unseating a long-dominant leader.
Why now: A long-entrenched leader conceding defeat to a student-led movement is a rare and dramatic political upheaval drawing global attention.
