The Pain of Losing Your Wikipedia Page
Original: The Tragedy of Having a Wikipedia Page—and Then Losing It https:// fed.brid.gy/r/https://www.wire d.com/story/the-traged
Wired examines the phenomenon of people who once had a Wikipedia article about themselves, only to see it deleted. The piece explores what the loss means for reputation, visibility and legacy, and how Wikipedia's notability rules decide who is deemed worthy of an entry. Readers are reacting to the strange mix of honour and fragility involved in having an online encyclopedia page at all.
Why now: A new Wired feature on deletion of Wikipedia articles is prompting discussion about notability and online reputation.
