Leaked video shows new RTX 5090s dismantled for AI servers in China
Original: 📰 Leaked video shows hundreds, possibly thousands of brand-new RTX 5090s being dismantled for AI server usage in Chinese
A leaked video reportedly shows a Chinese factory dismantling hundreds, possibly thousands, of brand-new Nvidia RTX 5090 graphics cards to strip their GPU modules for use in AI servers. The footage suggests demand for AI compute in China is strong enough that consumer cards are being repurposed at scale, despite export restrictions limiting access to high-end Nvidia hardware.
Why now: US export controls have made high-end Nvidia chips scarce in China, so reports of mass repurposing of consumer GPUs for AI highlight the scale of that demand.
