In Serbia's snap parliamentary elections held on Sunday, the student-run list SL, contesting its first election, won the most votes by a wide margin. With 86% of ballots counted, it holds a narrow absolute majority. The result marks a striking breakthrough for a student movement entering national politics for the first time.
Why now: The unexpected dominance of a first-time student list in a national election is a major political upset.
