Original: 玉鷲

Sumo is in focus as the Japan Sumo Association released the banzuke for the Kyushu tournament. Attention centres on Minoha from Okinawa, who becomes the first wrestler from the prefecture to reach the ranks of sanyaku, saying he hopes it will help sumo take root in Okinawan culture. Veteran Mongolian wrestler Tamawashi also features in discussion around the new rankings.

Why now: The release of the Kyushu tournament banzuke puts wrestlers like Tamawashi and history-making Minoha in the news.
