Google to allow AI-built Android apps under plain Google accounts

Original: Google will let you distribute vibe-coded Android apps with just a Google account https://www.engadget.com/2282824/googl

Google will let anyone publish AI-generated 'vibe-coded' Android apps to the Google Play Store using only a Google account, via its AI Studio tooling. The move dramatically lowers the barrier to app distribution, meaning people without developer credentials can ship software to Android users. Commenters are weighing the convenience against concerns that Play could be flooded with unvetted, low-quality or potentially unsafe apps.

Why now: It signals a major lowering of the barrier to publishing Android apps at a moment when AI app generation is booming.
