Windows 11 to add built-in internet speed test
Original: Windows 11 will finally get a built-in internet speed test instead of a Bing redirect
Microsoft is bringing a native internet speed test to Windows 11, replacing the current behaviour where the speed test search sends users to a Bing page. The tool will let users check their connection speed directly from the operating system without leaving it. Coverage frames it as a long-overdue quality-of-life fix that removes an awkward detour through Microsoft's search engine.
Why now: Microsoft is replacing an unpopular Bing redirect with a native speed test in Windows 11, a change users have wanted for years
