Green tradespeople: what really drives today's skilled workers
Original: Tree‑hugging optional: What today’s green tradespeople actually care about # Business # Economy # Environment # Energy #
A discussion is under way about the motivations of workers in green trades such as solar installation and heat pump fitting, arguing that environmental idealism is optional for the job. The conversation touches on business, the economy and the future of skilled trades, with attention to how workers from oil and gas backgrounds are moving into clean energy and what that shift means for careers and masculinity in the sector.
Why now: Debate over how clean energy jobs are reshaping the skilled trades and attracting workers without environmental motives.
