Ligue 1 launches joint TV rights tender covering new Ligue 1+ channel

Original: ligue1+

French football's governing body has approved a call for tenders covering all Ligue 1 broadcast rights as a single package, whether or not the league's own Ligue 1+ channel is involved. The decision by the LFP's steering committee means prospective broadcasters must bid for the entire championship, with media coverage focused on how the league's in-house platform will fit into the auction.

Why now: The French Professional Football League has just validated its broadcast rights tender, a major development for how Ligue 1 matches will be shown.
