The Environmental Protection Agency is planning to shut down its web archive, which holds tens of thousands of documents on contamination, clean power and the Trump administration's climate policy deletions. The material is scheduled to disappear on December 31, 2026. Researchers say the archive has long been imperfect but remains a key record, and its loss would remove a valuable public resource on environmental history.
Why now: People are alarmed that a major public archive of environmental and climate records is being quietly scheduled for deletion.
