Microsoft unveils Type Server Protocol for Pyright

Original: Type Server Protocol

Microsoft has published documentation for a Type Server Protocol, hosted in the Pyright and Pylance repository on GitHub. The protocol is designed to standardise communication between editors and Python type checkers, letting tools share type information more efficiently. Developers on Hacker News are discussing what it could mean for Python tooling and whether it might follow the success of the Language Server Protocol.

Why now: A new protocol from Microsoft for Python type checking tooling is significant for developers and follows interest in the Language Server Protocol.
