Barcelona employers' body rejects general housing strike

Foment del Treball, Catalonia's main employers' organisation, used its nineteenth annual awards gala in Barcelona to reiterate its rejection of the general strike called in defence of the right to housing. The organisation argued the strike will not solve the housing shortage, claiming those behind it do not build housing, a message that has drawn attention amid ongoing housing tensions in the city.
Why now: The general strike over housing rights is a live controversy in Barcelona, and the employers' lobby's public opposition keeps the debate in the news.
