Calls to ban Macklemore from UK over pro-Palestine gig

Original: macklemore

The Telegraph reports calls for the US rapper Macklemore to be barred from entering the UK ahead of a planned pro-Palestine performance. The appeal has been directed at Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood, asking her to refuse the musician entry before the gig. The story is drawing attention because of the intersection of celebrity activism, UK border policy and the highly charged debate around Israel and Palestine.

Why now: The rapper's planned pro-Palestine gig has prompted a public call for the Home Secretary to ban him from the UK.
