Climate change already costing California billions, worse ahead
Original: Climate change is costing California billions, and the worst is yet to come https://www. earth.com/climate/climate-chan
New reporting says climate change is already costing California billions of dollars each year, with damages from heat, drought, wildfires and flooding expected to grow sharply in the coming decades. The report stresses that current losses are only the beginning, and that without faster emissions cuts and adaptation spending the state's bill will keep climbing.
Why now: Ongoing wildfires, drought and extreme heat keep climate costs for California in the news and raise concern that impacts will accelerate.
