Paper straws worse for environment than plastic, study finds
Original: Paper straws worse for the environment than plastic ones, says study
A new study concludes that paper straws may be more harmful to the environment than plastic ones, challenging the assumption behind widely adopted plastic straw bans. The finding has prompted debate about whether alternatives like paper straws actually reduce environmental harm or simply shift it elsewhere, with many questioning the sustainability choices made by businesses and governments.
Why now: The finding contradicts the popular belief that paper straws are an eco-friendly alternative, surprising people after years of plastic straw bans.
