Berlin students meet over Ukraine war and jailed socialist Syrotiuk
Original: IYSSE meeting at Berlin’s Humboldt University against the Ukraine war and the persecution of Bogdan Syrotiuk
The International Youth and Students for Social Equality held a meeting at Humboldt University in Berlin opposing the war in Ukraine and calling for the release of Bogdan Syrotiuk, a Ukrainian socialist imprisoned by Ukrainian authorities. Speakers argued the war is driven by great-power interests and linked Syrotiuk's prosecution to the suppression of anti-war opposition. Attendees discussed building an international movement against the conflict.
Why now: Continuing public concern over the Ukraine war and the persecution of anti-war dissenters like Syrotiuk has prompted student campaigning in Germany.
