Robots and Humans Team Up to Disassemble Old Phones in Recycling Trial
Original: Robots and Humans Team Up to Tear Apart Old Phones in Simulated Recycling Line
A simulated recycling line has been demonstrated in which robots and human workers work side by side to tear apart old smartphones for material recovery. The setup pairs robotic handling with human judgment on a task that is hard to automate fully. It points to how e-waste recycling could be made faster and safer, though details of where the trial took place and who ran it remain unclear.
Why now: Interest in e-waste and automation is rising, and human-robot collaboration on messy disassembly tasks is a notable step forward.
