Alien: Covenant sequel moves forward as Romulus follow-up dropped

Original: ridley scott

New reports say 20th Century Studios has abandoned a direct sequel to Alien: Romulus, with the screenwriter instead hired to develop a follow-up to Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant. The move signals a return to the Covenant storyline rather than continuing Fede Alvarez's 2024 film, reigniting debate among fans about which direction the long-running Alien franchise should take next.

Why now: Fresh franchise news about the direction of the Alien series after Romulus's success.
