Alaska on Hollywood prejudice and leading Oh, Mary!
Original: ‘A dog would get treated better than a drag queen in Hollywood’: Alaska on prejudice and leading Oh, Mary! By Owen Myers
RuPaul's Drag Race star Alaska says drag performers face harsher treatment in Hollywood than animals, in a new interview with the Guardian. The comedian discusses queer visibility, the political climate and taking the lead role in Cole Escola's hit Broadway comedy Oh, Mary!, one of the most talked-about shows on stage.
Why now: The interview touches on anti-drag prejudice and the politics around queer visibility at a time when those issues are hotly debated.
