Warning of coming hunger after summer heatwaves and fires
Original: De honger komt eraan Mohamed Larbi Bouguerra Na de hittegolf en de megabranden van deze zomer dreigt er een nieuwe plaag
Scientist Mohamed Larbi Bouguerra warns that after this summer's heatwave and megafires, a new plague threatens: hunger. He argues that food shortages driven by climate change could push temperatures of a different kind upward — the anger of populations. His warning links climate change, food insecurity, politics and war, framing hunger as a coming source of social unrest.
Why now: Fears about climate-driven food shortages and possible public anger are circulating after this summer's extreme heat and wildfires.
