Debate over claims Die Linke demonises Israel

Original: # Dämonisierung Israels durch # DieLínke ? "Joffe spricht von Doppelstandards: "Von den weltweit etwa 100 kriegerischen

Israeli-German commentator Josef Joffe has accused Germany's Left Party of double standards in its criticism of Israel. He argues that of roughly 100 armed conflicts worldwide, Israel alone is accused of genocide, creating the impression that its conduct of war is the worst in the world. The comments have sparked discussion in Germany about whether left-wing criticism of Israel amounts to demonisation, a recurring and contentious theme in German political debate since the Gaza war began.

Why now: The Gaza war keeps accusations of antisemitism and one-sided criticism of Israel at the centre of German political controversy, especially around the Left Party.
