NSA official: AI boosts hackers faster than cyber defenders
Original: NSA official turner founder: AI multiplies attackers’ expertise while defenders are still short on talent
A senior NSA official, Turner, warned that artificial intelligence is amplifying the capabilities of cyber attackers while defensive teams continue to struggle with a shortage of skilled talent. The comment highlights a growing imbalance in cybersecurity, where offensive actors gain expertise quickly through AI tools but organizations cannot hire or train defenders fast enough to keep pace with the threat.
Why now: Rising concern that generative AI is shifting the balance of power toward cyber attackers amid a persistent cybersecurity skills shortage.
