Microsoft to fix Windows 11 forcing Bing searches
Original: I wanted Windows 11 to stop opening Bing for a speed test, and Microsoft is fixing it
Microsoft is changing Windows 11 behaviour that forced local searches, including speed test queries, to open in Bing rather than a default browser or direct result. The move follows repeated criticism from Windows users who complained the operating system blocked them from choosing their own browser. The change means certain searches will now respect user settings.
Why now: Users have long been frustrated that Windows 11 overrides browser choices, and a confirmed fix is notable news.
