Windows 11's internet speed test drops Bing
Original: Windows 11's built-in internet speed test is getting a divorce from Bing — and it's about time
Windows 11's built-in internet speed test is being decoupled from Bing, according to a TechRadar report. The tool, which previously relied on Microsoft's search engine to run measurements, will instead work independently. The change is being welcomed by users who found the Bing dependency unnecessary and are glad Microsoft is making the speed test more straightforward and self-contained.
Why now: Microsoft is changing a widely used Windows 11 feature, and users welcome removing an unnecessary Bing dependency
