US Health Secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr. has claimed that Arabs do not produce science or literature, according to Al Jazeera. The remark has drawn sharp criticism as historically false, given the contributions of Arab and Muslim scholars to mathematics, medicine and literature, and comes amid ongoing scrutiny of Kennedy's public statements in his role overseeing US health policy.

Why now: A sitting US cabinet member made a widely rebuked claim about Arabs, drawing condemnation online.
