British satire mocks Israeli election as villains' battle
Original: *British Satire alert* “Israeli election is exciting battle between Voldemort, Sauron, Darth Vader, Skeletor, Mumm Ra, M
A satirical piece from Normal Island News by Laura jokes that Israel's election is a contest between famous fictional villains, including Voldemort, Sauron, Darth Vader, Skeletor, Mr Burns, Bowser and Hannibal Lecter. The line is being shared among pro-Palestinian accounts and commentators, who use the dark humour to criticise the candidates and the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
Why now: It is circulating amid the Israeli election campaign and anger over the Gaza war, with satire used to express criticism of the political leadership.
