Fossil lobby earning billions while EU delays, critics say

Original: RE: https:// mastodon.online/@NOSRSS/117513 311499137720 De # fossielelobby verdient miljarden aan het blijven verbrande

Dutch public broadcaster NOS reports that the fossil fuel lobby continues to earn billions from ongoing fossil fuel consumption, and critics accuse the EU, with Wopke Hoekstra in a leading role, of letting it happen. Commenters argue that every euro spent now will cost many more later, warning the true bill excludes the lobby's profits and will fall on taxpayers.

Why now: Frustration over EU climate policy delays and fossil fuel industry influence is currently a hot political topic.
