Employees at Boston Dynamics have urged company leadership in a petition, obtained by WBUR and sent in early September, to cancel a sale of its robot dogs to US Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Workers argue the deal damages the company's image and presents them as working directly with ICE, an agency widely criticized over its enforcement tactics.

Why now: The petition ties a prominent robotics company to a controversial US immigration agency, sparking debate over the ethics of selling police and security robots.
