A Russia-Ukraine ceasefire covering one city is reported to be in effect, following appeals to President Vladimir Putin from Melania Trump and Pope Leo. The former US first lady and the pontiff are credited with pressing Putin to pause fighting in the area, though the scope of the truce remains limited to a single city and details of its terms and duration are still unclear.
