Bay Area indie booksellers spotlight banned books
Original: Bay Area’s indie booksellers peel back the covers of banned books
Independent booksellers across the San Francisco Bay Area are putting banned books front and center in their stores, displaying and discussing titles that have been removed or challenged in school districts and libraries elsewhere in the United States. The booksellers are framing the displays as a stand against censorship, drawing customers curious about the contested titles.
Why now: Book bans and challenges in US schools and libraries remain a heated national debate.
