Sculpture re-creates optical effects of the Lycurgus Cup

Original: Sculpture re-creates odd optical effects of famed Lycurgus Cup

A new sculpture recreates the strange optical effects of the Lycurgus Cup, the famous fourth-century Roman glass cup that appears green in reflected light and red when light shines through it, due to tiny gold and silver particles in the glass. The project highlights how the ancient artisans achieved this remarkable effect centuries before modern nanotechnology could explain it.
