Nathan Church earns Cardinals' trust but ceiling questions remain

St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Nathan Church has won over the organization in 2026 after stepping into the center field role when Victor Scott II struggled. Commentators note his steady, reliable play is his strongest asset, but argue his overall game lacks the high-end potential teams usually want from such a key defensive position going forward.

Why now: Fans and analysts are debating whether Church's dependable but limited skill set can hold down center field long term for the Cardinals.
