Russia may limit access to foreign internet traffic
Original: интернет в россии
Russia's Ministry of Digital Development is considering restricting Russians' consumption of foreign internet traffic, according to a report by Forbes cited by TV Rain. The measure would push users toward domestic online services and reduce dependence on infrastructure outside the country. Critics see it as a further step toward isolating the Russian segment of the internet, though officials frame such plans as technical and security measures.
Why now: A fresh Forbes report on possible foreign traffic restrictions is circulating amid ongoing concern about internet controls in Russia.
