In his first public appearance since Israel's Knesset election day, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called for a new round of fighting against Iran. The remarks drew immediate criticism, with commentators denouncing him as a war criminal and tying his rhetoric to the ongoing war in Gaza and regional tensions between Israel and Iran.

Why now: Netanyahu's calls for renewed military action against Iran come right after a domestic election and amid the ongoing Gaza war, making his stance highly contested.
