Tikoduadua tells nuclear powers to test weapons on their own soil
Original: Test nuclear weapons on your own soil, says Tikoduadua
Fiji's Pio Tikoduadua has said that countries backing nuclear weapons should test them on their own soil rather than in the Pacific, according to FBC News. The remark reflects long-standing regional anger over nuclear testing in the Pacific and demands that outside powers stop using the region for weapons programmes.
Why now: His pointed challenge to nuclear-armed states is striking a chord amid renewed regional debate over nuclear testing and Pacific security.
