Original: The NTRA issues order to double Egypt’s base internet package capacity at no extra cost
Egypt's National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) has issued an order requiring providers to double the capacity of the country's base internet package without raising prices. The move effectively gives subscribers faster speeds or larger quotas at their existing rates. It follows recurring complaints about internet quality and value in Egypt, and consumers have welcomed the decision as a rare price improvement in the telecoms market.
Why now: People are reacting to an immediate, tangible improvement in internet service announced by the regulator.
