A German wildlife photographer is sharing sanderling photos from the beach, calling the small shorebirds one of their favourite subjects. Staying calm and quiet allows the birds to come very close and behave in a relaxed way. The bigger problem was flying sand, which troubled both the birds and the photographer's camera equipment, leaving the lens grinding but otherwise fine.
