Excelsior, winners of Jamaica's Manning Cup schoolboy football competition, have been placed on probation and removed from the Champions Cup, according to the Jamaica Observer. The disciplinary action means the champions will miss the schoolboy showcase tournament despite their title-winning season. No details of the ruling body or the reasons for the sanction were included in the available coverage.
Why now: A reigning schoolboy champion being sanctioned and barred from a major tournament is a striking development in Jamaican school football.
