Reporters accused of coughing to disrupt Trump's moment
Original: Reporters were intentionally coughing really loud to try and ruin President Trump’s historic moment
Supporters of Donald Trump are claiming that reporters deliberately coughed loudly during a speech in order to undermine what they called a historic moment for the president. The accusation circulated widely among Trump's base, with many echoing claims of media hostility. No evidence has been presented to confirm the coughing was intentional, and news organisations have not responded to the allegation.
Why now: Claims of media bias against Trump reliably draw strong reactions from his supporters, and the unverified accusation spread quickly on social media.
