Frankfurt Airport deportation centre to double in size

The federal police deportation centre at Frankfurt Airport is to be relocated and doubled in size by May 2027, moving further away from the terminal. Frankfurt already carries out more daily deportations than any other airport in Germany, making it the country's main hub for removals. The expansion plan is drawing attention to Germany's tightening deportation policy and the conditions for those held at the facility.
Why now: Germany's expansion of deportation capacity is a contentious topic in the current migration policy debate
