Understanding the EU's climate neutrality targets and policies
The European Parliament has published an explainer on the European Union's climate neutrality targets and policies, setting out the bloc's goal of reaching net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 and the legislation underpinning it, including emissions reduction targets for 2030 and related policy tools. The material is intended to help the public understand how the EU plans to meet its commitments under the European Green Deal.
Why now: Ongoing debate over EU climate legislation and the bloc's 2050 net-zero goal keeps these targets in public discussion.
