Critics Say John Healey's Defence Budget Delays Hard Choices
Original: John Healey's 'Breathing Space' Budget Just Kicked The Can Down The Road
John Healey's budget, framed as a 'breathing space' for defence spending, is being criticised as merely postponing difficult decisions rather than resolving them. Writing in HuffPost UK, critics argue the plan kicks the can down the road, delaying key funding commitments without addressing long-term pressures on Britain's armed forces. The accusation is that short-term relief has been prioritised over a credible long-term plan.
Why now: A senior minister's spending plans are being attacked as delaying rather than resolving defence funding problems.
