Trump calls for prosecution of Mary Peltola
Original: Trump calls for Peltola prosecution
Donald Trump has publicly called for the prosecution of former Alaska congresswoman Mary Peltola. The demand from the president comes without confirmed details of any specific allegation or legal action, and it is drawing attention given Peltola's profile as a prominent Alaska Democrat who served in the House from 2022 to 2025.
Why now: A sitting president publicly calling for the criminal prosecution of a political opponent is an unusual and contentious move.
